Jacob Wilkins

Like father, like son, they say. And Atlanta Hawks legend Dominique Wilkins’ son Jacob is busy proving that adage by showcasing the similar electric athleticism that his father boasted of during his playing days.

Jacob was recently in the news after Virginia basketball offered him a scholarship. In addition, he also received offers from Alabama, Cincinnati, Indiana, and Georgia.

Here’s a clip of his dunking skills and his athleticism that’s had people talking:

Jacob has been on the radar of top universities, and the 6’8″ wing from Atlanta, Georgia is still more than two years away from enrolling in college.

According to Jerry Ratcliffe : “He is ranked No. 31 overall nationally from his class by 247Sports, No. 26 by On3, and No. 55 by ESPN. At his position, he rates No. 5 nationally by 247, No. 6 by On3, and No. 11 by ESPN. He is ranked either No. 3 or 4 for overall prospects in the state of Georgia.”

With skills like that, there is no doubt that Jacob is already considered as one of the prospects in the NBA. It’s a bit too soon to place the load on the young player, but the game shows for itself, and hopefully, young Jacob can ascend heights like his father.

Can Jacob Wilkins Be As Good As Dominique Wilkins?

He might not be on the NBA radar yet, but that doesn’t mean all eyes are on Jacob. His father has had an illustrious career in the sport and was notable for his spectacular dunks, in which he deservedly won the NBA Slam Dunk competition twice. Such was his greatness that he was inducted into the Hall Of Fame in 2006 for his achievements in the sport.

As far as Jacob’s game goes, he is undoubtedly blessed with some skills from his father and he does look like a solid perimeter shooter and that gives him an added advantage when looking at how the modern-day NBA is unfurling.

He does have two years left in his high school career, and with the way his career is shaping up, Jacob could well go on to become one of the top prospects in the country by 2025.
